Frame Unstructured Conversion
Course-at-a-glance: This one–day course is developed for people who need to work with FrameMaker—using the Structured Interface—to migrate content from unstructured FrameMaker to structured templates. Learn about the relationship between the structured template, the EDD and the conversion table source documnt. Acquire hands–on experience with document conversion including the use of structured templates and the creation and management of conversion tables.
Prerequisite: You must have a solid working familiarity with FrameMaker and an understanding of XML concepts such as elements, attributes and values.
Objectives: Upon successful completion attendees will be able to:
Understand the FrameMaker model and its conversion table
Recognize structured documents and the elements which are to be used in the conversion of content
Use the Element Catalog, Attributes and the Structure view in the conversion of documents
Understand the relationship between siblings, parents, children, ancestors and descendants
Update elements which are moved, deleted, merged or split as required
Validate structured files to ensure that all ‘rules’ are adhered to in the document
Create structured FrameMaker documents for conversion to XML
